Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis (16 November 2025)- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had the pleasure to receive His Excellency Giuvel Orozco Ortega, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Saint Kitts and Nevis, during a courtesy call on Permanent Secretary, Ms. Kaye Bass on 12 November 2025.
Ms. Bass met with Ambassador Ortega on behalf of the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs et al., who is currently overseas on official duty. In welcoming the Ambassador, she conveyed the Ministry’s appreciation for the longstanding and mutually beneficial relationship between Saint Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of Cuba.
Though introductory in nature, the discussion highlighted opportunities to broaden cooperation beyond the traditional fields of education and health, with special emphasis on sports and music. These areas were of particular interest given their potential to build on the skill set and open new avenues for the Federations’ youth.
Ambassador Ortega succeeds His Excellency David Rivero Perez, who served as Cuba’s Ambassador to the Federation from 2022 to 2025. The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis takes this opportunity to thank Ambassador Rivero Perez for his dedicated service during his tenure and to extend best wishes for his future endeavours.
The Ministry looks forward to working closely with H.E. Ortega to further deepen the excellent relations that exist between Saint Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of Cuba.
