Manhattan, NY. – Monroe University proudly hosted its Convocation Ceremony on June 11, 2026, marking a significant milestone in academic achievement and international collaboration. The event was honoured by the presence of The Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education et al. of Saint Kitts and Nevis, who led a distinguished delegation including Ms. Thelma Richards, Head of the Civil Service; Mr. Kevin Barrett, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Human Resources for the Nevis Island Administration (NIA); and other senior government officials.

Deputy Prime Minister Hanley and his delegation joined the Monroe University community in celebrating both the academic accomplishments of students and the growing educational partnership between Saint Kitts and Nevis and the institution. This collaboration continues to play a vital role in advancing capacity building and supporting the federation’s Sustainable Island State Agenda.

The ceremony featured remarks from Monroe University President, Marc Jerome, and Chairman of the Board Stephen Jerome, both of whom emphasized the institution’s longstanding commitment to empowering students through quality education and global partnerships. Monroe University has remained a dedicated partner in expanding access to higher education for the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Also in attendance were Mr. Kressell Daniel, Deputy Consul General of Saint Kitts and Nevis in New York, and Ms. Kimarah Isaac, Director of Admissions for Saint Kitts and Nevis at Monroe University, whose continued efforts have strengthened the bridge between the Federation and the University.

In reflecting on the importance of education to national development, Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, stated: “Education remains one of the most powerful tools we possess to transform lives and build a resilient, sustainable future. Our partnership with Monroe University represents a meaningful investment in our people, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and global perspective needed to drive national progress.”

The Convocation Ceremony stood as a testament to academic excellence, international cooperation, and the shared commitment to nurturing future leaders who will contribute to the continued advancement of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
