United Nations, New York (14^th July 2026) — on 8th, July, 2026, Her Excellency Ambassador Mutryce Williams, Permanent Representative of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations, recently met with His Excellency Ambassador Fergal Mythen, Permanent Representative of Ireland to the United Nations, at the Permanent Mission of Ireland to discuss matters of mutual interest and to reaffirm the longstanding friendship between the two countries. During the cordial and constructive meeting, Ambassador Williams conveyed greetings on behalf of the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis and expressed appreciation for Ireland’s willingness to engage in open dialogue on recent developments affecting bilateral relations. Both Ambassadors underscored the importance of continued diplomatic engagement, mutual respect, and maintaining strong channels of communication.

Ambassador Mythen reaffirmed Ireland’s commitment to its relationship with Saint Kitts and Nevis and welcomed the ongoing dialogue between the two Governments. He also acknowledged the proactive efforts undertaken by the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis to engage through diplomatic channels, noting that such outreach reflects the value both countries place on their partnership. The discussions also highlighted the shared commitment of Saint Kitts and Nevis and Ireland to multilateralism, international cooperation, and support for Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Both sides expressed their intention to continue strengthening collaboration within the United Nations and in other areas of common interest.

The meeting further reflected the strong spirit of partnership that has characterized relations between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Ireland, particularly through their close collaboration on the historic Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) Revitalization Resolution, adopted by consensus on 19 September 2025. The resolution represented the culmination of nearly two decades of negotiations to strengthen and modernize the Commission’s working methods, ensuring that it remains responsive, effective, and fit for purpose in advancing global gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. Working closely together throughout the negotiation process, Saint Kitts and Nevis and Ireland demonstrated principled leadership, mutual trust, and a shared commitment to consensus-building, helping to facilitate a landmark outcome that was welcomed by the international community.

Both Governments expressed confidence that their enduring friendship and continued dialogue will further deepen bilateral relations and advance shared priorities on the international stage.
