New York, (21st January, 2026) — The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis, through its Permanent Mission to the United Nations, in collaboration with the Embassy of Saint Kitts and Nevis in Taiwan, recently hosted a delegation of students from the L.T Brown School in Taiwan at the Permanent Mission in New York.

L.T. Brown International Experimental Education is an innovative secondary school that combines Taiwanese and American academic systems. Serving both middle and high school students, the school provides a globalized, diverse, and personalized learning experience. Its curriculum integrates Taiwan’s national standards with the U.S. Common Core, allowing students to earn dual diplomas and creating expanded pathways for higher education and future careers. This visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and promote people-to-people exchanges with Taiwan.

The visit offered students a unique opportunity to learn about the work of the Permanent Mission, the role of Saint Kitts and Nevis within the United Nations system, and the importance of diplomacy in advancing national development and international cooperation. Students gained insight into multilateral negotiations, the workings of UN committees, and how small states like Saint Kitts and Nevis leverage international platforms to advocate for national and regional interests. They also learned about the practical responsibilities of diplomats, including protocol, representation, and engagement with international partners.

Ambassador Mutryce Williams, Permanent Representative of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations, highlighted the significance of engaging young people in diplomacy and international affairs.

“Experiences like these leave a lasting impression on young people, inspiring them to become active, thoughtful, and engaged global citizens. This visit also reflects our commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders and deepening people-to-people connections that form the foundation of strong and enduring bilateral partnerships,” Ambassador Williams stated. “Our collaboration with Taiwan continues to be a model of mutual respect, shared values, and meaningful cooperation.”

Minister Counselor Eustace Wallace, a seasoned career diplomat who has personally benefitted from similar educational exchanges, shared his experiences with the students and emphasized the value of exposure to multilateral diplomacy.

“Providing students with firsthand insight into the work of the United Nations and the role of Saint Kitts and Nevis on the global stage is an important investment in their development,” Minister Counselor Wallace said. “Through this visit, students were able to understand how small states navigate complex international issues, and appreciate the importance of building partnerships. These experiences foster a deeper understanding of international cooperation and the responsibilities of a global citizen.”

Ambassador Donya Francis, Ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis to Taiwan, emphasized the central role of education and youth engagement in strengthening bilateral ties.

“Educational exchange remains a cornerstone of the longstanding friendship between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan,” Ambassador Francis noted. “Initiatives such as this student visit reinforce mutual understanding and strengthen the bonds that unite our two nations.”

The initiative underscores the Government’s commitment to fostering educational exchange, dialogue, and collaboration as key pillars of its partnership with Taiwan. The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis remains dedicated to advancing bilateral relations through initiatives that promote learning, cultural exchange, and constructive engagement within both bilateral and multilateral frameworks, including the United Nations.
