Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis (23 January 2026) – On 23 January 2026, the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs et al, received a courtesy call from Her Excellency Marie-Noëlle Duris, newly appointed Ambassador of the French Republic to Saint Kitts and Nevis, during her first official visit to the Federation.
Minister Douglas welcomed Ambassador Duris and acknowledged the longstanding relations between Saint Kitts and Nevis and France, noting that these ties are strengthened by historical linkages. The Minister also noted France’s continued support within diplomatic fora, and its significant role in global affairs.
In response, Ambassador Duris highlighted the many shared values that underpin cooperation between the two states, including a common commitment to human rights, democracy, multilateralism, and international law. Discussions also touched on opportunities for continued collaboration on climate-related priorities and wider sustainable development objectives.
Both parties expressed optimism regarding the strengthening of bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of mutual interest, inclusive of enhanced engagement in regional and international policy discussions.
H.E. Duris was accompanied by Ms. Shawna Lake, Honorary Consul of France in Saint Kitts and Nevis.
