Taipei, Republic of China (Taiwan), March 24, 2026 (Embassy of Saint Christopher (Saint Kitts) and Nevis) – As Basseterre deepens its relationship with Sister-City Tainan, several books written by various authors from Saint Kitts and Nevis were donated to the Tainan City Government for circulation in the Tainan Public Library system.
The Embassy of Saint Christopher (Saint Kitts) and Nevis to the Republic of China (Taiwan) donated ten books at a book donation ceremony in Tainan City on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. The list of authors includes Carol Ottley-Mitchell Caryl Phillips, Coryn Anaya Clarke, Donya L. Francis, Kayrisa Kelly and Vanessa L. Webbe.
His Excellency Donya L. Francis, Ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis to Taiwan, says all the books donated, like “A Distant Shore”, “The Masquerade Dance”, or “Chronicles of Coryn: Adventures in Saint Kitts and Nevis”, offer a window into the heart and soul of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Ambassador Francis describes this donation as a tangible realization of the sister-city agreement signed between Basseterre and Tainan in November of last year. “It is our hope that the people of Tainan will not only read these books but also feel a deeper connection to our twin-island Federation,” said Ambassador Francis.
In accepting the donation on behalf of the Tainan City Government and the Tainan Public Library, Mayor Huang Wei-che acknowledged the advantages of making these books available to the people of Tainan. He stated that the books would encourage residents to gain a deeper understanding of the history, people and landscape of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Mayor Huang presented Ambassador Francis with two books about Tainan City. He also invited the Embassy to host a cultural display at the Tainan City Government headquarters, allowing the people of Tainan to visit and learn more about Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The ceremony was also attended by Director-General of the Department of Information and International Relations Mr. Su En-en, Director-General of the Cultural Affairs Bureau Ms. Huang Ya-Ling and Director of the Tainan Public Library Ms. Yang, Fu-Ling.
This initiative is part of the Embassy’s ‘Sharing Kindness and Nurturing Love-SKNLOVE’ outreach program and is the sixth in a series of book donations.
The Embassy has previously donated books to the National Central Library in June 2022, Kaohsiung Public Library in March 2023, New Taipei City Government in March 2024, Yunlin County Government in October 2024 and Taichung City Government in April 2025.
