Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis (26th March 2026) – As Saint Kitts and Nevis endeavours to advance stronger South-South engagement, the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs et al, was pleased to receive Her Excellency Xiomara Pérez, newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Panama to Saint Kitts and Nevis, on 25 March 2026.
Against the backdrop of the longstanding historical and cultural links between Panama and Saint Kitts and Nevis, the meeting between the two dignitaries allowed for constructive and forward-looking discussions rooted in mutual respect and a shared interest in sustainable development.
The exchange focused on several areas of potential cooperation, including maritime trade, cultural exchange, air connectivity, and human resource development within the tourism sector.
The Republic of Panama will also host the 56th Regular Session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States from 22 – 24 June 2026, further highlighting its commitment to multilateral engagement. As such, the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis looks forward to deepening cooperation with Panama and exploring practical avenues for mutually beneficial partnership.
