United Nations, New York (7th May 2026) —The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis is pleased to note the recent participation of Her Excellency Ambassador Dr. Mutryce Williams, Permanent Representative of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations, in a High-Level Programme for Permanent Representatives to the United Nations held in Vienna, Austria.

The programme was fully sponsored by the Government of Austria and organised in conjunction with the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. It convened nine Permanent Representatives from across the United Nations system for a series of strategic engagements aimed at strengthening multilateral cooperation, enhancing diplomatic capacity, and deepening understanding of Austria’s international institutional landscape.

Prime Minister the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew welcomed the engagement, stating: “Engagements of this nature are an important investment in the effectiveness of our foreign service. They strengthen our ability to engage meaningfully in multilateral spaces and ensure that Saint Kitts and Nevis continues to contribute constructively to global dialogue and decision-making.”

Throughout the programme, participants engaged in high-level meetings with senior Austrian officials, including Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker, Minister for European and International Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger, President of the National Council Walter Rosenkranz, and Mayor of Vienna Michael Ludwig. Discussions focused on international cooperation, governance, sustainable development, and strengthening global partnerships.

The delegation also participated in substantive briefings and visits at key Vienna-based international organisations, including the United Nations Office at Vienna, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA). These engagements provided valuable insight into global efforts in peace, security, development, and innovation.

Additional programme elements included academic and policy exchanges at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and engagements at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), as well as cultural and institutional visits that highlighted Austria’s role as a leading centre for international diplomacy, governance, and research.

Ambassador Williams reflected on the experience, stating: “This programme provided a valuable opportunity to engage directly with Austrian institutions and fellow Permanent Representatives in a setting that strengthened dialogue, collaboration, and shared understanding on key global issues.”

The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis notes that participation in such high-level, fully sponsored programmes strengthens the Federation’s diplomatic engagement, enhances professional capacity, and reinforces its commitment to active participation within the United Nations system.

The Government extends its appreciation to the Government of Austria for facilitating this valuable diplomatic and professional exchange.
