Brooklyn, NY, (August 17, 2026) – The Consulate General of Saint Kitts and Nevis in New York, in partnership with the Saint Kitts Tourism Authority and the Nevis Tourism Authority, made its first-ever appearance at I Am Caribbeing Open Streets in Little Caribbean, Brooklyn.

Hosted by Ms. Shelley Worrell, Founder of I Am Caribbeing, the family-friendly event brought together Caribbean community organizations, residents, visitors, Black-owned businesses, and local leaders. Dignitaries and representatives in attendance included Assemblymember Brian Cunningham of New York’s 43rd Assembly District, Mr. Jameel Rochester, Director of Anguilla Tourism, and a representative from the Office of New York State Senator Zellnor Myrie of the 20th Senate District.

The August Open Streets series, which leads into the annual Brooklyn Carnival celebrations, featured face painting, talent showcases, flag-waving workshops, a health and wellness corner, and a variety of community vendors and activities.

Ms. Chimarie Morillo, Midwest Sales Representative United States for the Saint Kitts Tourism Authority, and Mr. Kressell Daniel, Deputy Consul General of Saint Kitts and Nevis in New York, represented the Federation at the Saint Kitts and Nevis information booth. They promoted the destination’s vibrant year-round calendar, including Sugar Mas, the Saint Kitts Music Festival, Mango Fest, Culturama and Restaurant Month, as well as its range of experiences, from zip-lining, ATV excursions and golf to snorkeling, heritage attractions, beaches, and authentic island cuisine.

Visitors also received travel information, including JetBlue service on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays; Saturday flights with American Airlines, Delta Airlines and United Airlines; and daily access through Miami.

“Participating in I Am Caribbeing Open Streets enabled us to connect directly with our diaspora and introduce new visitors to the warmth, culture and diversity of Saint Kitts and Nevis,” said Mr. Daniel. “Through continued collaboration with our tourism partners and community stakeholders, we are pleased to showcase our Federation as a premier destination for authentic Caribbean experiences.”

Ms. Worrell added, “New York City is where the Diaspora comes home to itself. Welcoming Saint Kitts and Nevis to Open Streets in Little Caribbean for the first time reflects our commitment to ensuring that every island is seen, celebrated, and visited. We look forward to building a strong partnership that demonstrates the power of One Caribbean and the Diaspora.”

Two lucky attendees received a bottle each of Saint Kitts and Nevis artisan spirits. Special appreciation is extended to the Federation’s partners for their contributions, including Ms. Ramona Alexander of Sassy Puddings and Goodings for providing national delicacies, and Ms. Abena Amory for bringing the vocal talent of the Federation to the celebration.

The Consulate General and its tourism partners thank Ms. Worrell and the I Am Caribbeing team for the invitation and for providing a valuable platform to share the allure of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
