United Nations, New York (22^nd September 2026) — On 9^th September 2026, the Permanent Representative of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations, H.E. Dr. Mutryce Agatha Williams, held a cordial and substantive meeting with the Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations, H.E. Mr. Giorgio Marrapodi, marking a further step in strengthening relations and deepening cooperation between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Italy.

The Ambassadors established an excellent rapport and engaged in a wide-ranging exchange on matters of mutual interest, including international peace and security, United Nations reform, the priorities of Small Island Developing States (SIDS), climate resilience, sustainable development and disaster preparedness. The discussion reflected a shared commitment to constructive diplomacy and to advancing practical solutions to issues of importance to the international community.

Saint Kitts and Nevis recognizes Italy as a strong and valued partner of SIDS and the Caribbean, with Italy making meaningful contributions in areas including early warning systems, renewable energy, energy resilience, climate action and sustainable development. Italy’s support for CARICOM has similarly contributed to regional efforts in climate resilience, energy, environmental protection and disaster preparedness. Complementing these practical contributions, the Italy-AOSIS Fellowship Programme has strengthened the capacity of officials from SIDS to participate effectively in international negotiations and advance the interests of vulnerable island States within the multilateral system.

The meeting also highlighted the important relationship between multilateral and bilateral diplomacy. While the United Nations provides the principal forum for collective action on global challenges, engagement among Member States creates valuable opportunities to build trust, deepen bilateral relationships and translate shared priorities into practical cooperation.

Ambassador Williams expressed appreciation for Italy’s longstanding partnership with SIDS and the Caribbean and welcomed continued engagement with Ambassador Marrapodi in identifying new avenues for cooperation. The meeting represents a positive step in further advancing the relationship between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Italy, grounded in shared interests, mutual respect and a common commitment to effective international cooperation.
